Research effects
Pinealon is a tripeptide composed of Glu-Asp-Arg that exhibits neuroprotective properties. Its core mechanisms involve reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, suppressing ERK1/2 activation, reducing spontaneous cell death, and modulating the cell cycle. Beyond its antioxidant activity, it has been hypothesized to directly interact with the cell genome. In animal models, Pinealon improved spatial learning and memory in rats and protected offspring from prenatal hyperhomocysteinemia. Evidence for Pinealon is primarily concentrated within a single Russian research tradition, lacking independent replication or large-scale clinical trial validation.
