Research effects
Human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) is a gonadotropin preparation extracted from the urine of postmenopausal women, containing equal follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity. In reproductive medicine, HMG is widely used to induce follicle growth and maturation for treating infertility due to ovulation disorders, and to promote multifollicular development in assisted reproductive technologies (e.g., IVF). In males, HMG is used to stimulate spermatogenesis in treating male infertility resulting from gonadotropin deficiency. Compared to purified FSH preparations, HMG provides more comprehensive support for patients with hypothalamic-pituitary axis dysfunction due to its LH activity, contributing to improved endometrial receptivity and higher pregnancy success rates.
